Information for our first trip to Virginia Beach

I am trying to plan a family reunion trip for the summer of 2010 to the Virginia Beach area, and I have never been there myself. We are probably going to rent a house, and right now I am considering staying in the Sandbridge area, because it looked family friendly. We will be traveling with around 22 people ages new born to 84. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also is it a very far drive to get to Virginia Beach from Sandbridge Beach.

We are from PA and have traveled to Sandbridge for the past 10 yrs or so. It is a wonderful place for a family reunion. They have many large homes for rent and the beaches are less crowded. We have rented from both Sandbridge Realty and Siebert Realty and never had a problem with either one. There websites have lots of pics and information. The drive from Sandbridge Beach to Virginia Beach is approx. 20-30 minutes. Sandbridge is very quiet and only has 2 restaurants and 2-3 gift shops but there are lots of things to do within a 30 minute drive.

Actually, Sandbridge is close to a pretty large shopping center with lots of restaurants, called Red Mill Commons.

The main resort part of the city is not too far away, but you really don%26#39;t need to go there since you have the ocean right there at Sandbridge.

About a 20-25 minute drive to the northwest takes you to the Town Center of Virginia Beach, which has lots of restaurants, shops and free parking.

Thank you for all the information.
