Hilton suites vs. Embassy vs. Residence Inn

We%26#39;re coming into the DC area for the first time with my 9 year old son. Plan to stay in Alexandria but do a lot of DC plus Williamsburg. All the above hotels have mostly good reviews but noise from the metro station worries me. Is is really that bad, do trains run constantly? The Residence Inn looks nice but a little remote and there%26#39;s a cemetary on the other side (well I guess it would be quiet, huh?) Anyway, apart from nons smoking which is a must, I%26#39;d love a comfy bed and at least a little fridge. Any preferences between these 3???

Noise will not be a problem at the Residence Inn. In addition, there is an almost full-size fridge in your room (basically a kitchen). I would not call the Residence Inn ';remote'; either as it is just blocks away from the Metro, shopping, and the restaurants and shopping of Old Towne.

Agree with the previous writer. I always put my family up at this hotel which is two blocks from Metro and remote from the noise. They are small efficiency apartments and include full breakfast, snacks and dinner. Noise is not an issue. Metro closes around midnight, trains, however run on the same tracks and can have an effect....but there%26#39;s not much you can do about that.

Added tip for Williamsburg...if you can..try to get a room in the Williamsburg Historic Inn and Houses. We recently stayed at the Tavern Inn in the historic core. It was a fabulous location and experience.
