first trip to chincoteague island

My fiance, my dog and i are taking a trip to virginia from buffalo, ny at the end of june. Im trying to decide if this is somewhere we should vacation or if we should go to chesapeake bay. we want somewhere thats quiet and relaxing. we also want to be near the water and beach. can anyone help me decide which is a better vacation idea.

Chincoteague is quiet and relaxing. If you want a great beach, nature, a place to hike and bike, good food and a few neat shops -- this is it.

If you are looking for nightclubs, tons of organized recreational activities, large stores, outlets and high rise hotels -- Chincoteague would NOT be for you.

One word of caution. Assateague is a National Wildlife Refuge -- NO PETS are allowed out there -- without exception. So the dog can%26#39;t go to the beach!

I agree with previous poster - it is quiet and relaxing - but don%26#39;t go during Pony Week, which begins July 26 this year. It%26#39;s a very busy time! But I see you mentioned end of June, so not an issue for you.

When you say ';Chesapeake Bay,'; that covers a lot of territory. From cities like Baltimore and Annapolis to small towns and communities like Reedville and Onancock, there%26#39;s a lot of variety. I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong with Chincoteague, as long as you know what to expect.
