CW in the Evening

My husband, 11 yr old daughter at I will be staying at CW in late June/early July. We would like to do some things in the evening. How late do most things stay open in CW? What would you recommend to fill the evening hours?

CW in the Evening

CW has something(s) going on all the way until after it gets dark, so filling the evening hours shouldn%26#39;t be a problem. Their are several evening programs, including the candle-lit ghost tours.

Away from CW, there%26#39;s something open late whatever your needs. Forget to pack a necessity? Wal-Mart is 24/7. Need late night sit down dinner? The TGI Friday%26#39;s on Richmond Rd is still serving long after most restaurants have closed.

CW in the Evening

Hi, If you are going to Historic Jamestown Island (run by the NPS), check out this link for the hours of the visitor center and museum, but you can roam around the island itself until dusk.

Take a ghost tour. They are a very popular nighttime activity in Williamsburg. The Original Ghosts of Williamsburg tour starts nightly in front of the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at Merchants Square.

Hi, Carolina -- as you probably already know, the exhibition buildings, trade shops and colonial stores close at 5pm and the museums close at 7pm (except for June 25 this year, when they close at 5). If you plan to browse the shops in Merchants Square, save that for the evening hours. You%26#39;ll find info about dinner at the taverns and the evening programming within the historic area on the website. For my taste, just a stroll around the restored area is a lovely occupation on a summer evening!

Hope you have an enjoyable visit.

Many of the shops in Merchants Square close early at 6 p.m.. Exceptions include King%26#39;s Treasure, Wythe Candy, and Baskin-Robbins ice cream. A few of the shops are open later on Friday and Saturday evenings. The restaurants are generally open until 9.

Thank you! I had no idea the shops and museums would close that early in the summer. So we do need to plan some evening programs then. I just assumed that shops would be open to 8 or 9. Other than the evening programs, tavern dinners, ghost tours, is there anything else I should look in to?

There are several other evening Colonial Williamsburg programs, along with frequent films and live programs at the Kimball Theater in Merchants Square. Go to www.history.org and select evening programs, or select the date(s) you%26#39;re interested in.

Love the Ghost Tours, and walking around CW at night in general!
