Staying in Sandbridge Area

I am thinking about renting a house in the Sandbridge Beach area next summer. I noticed you can stay n the beach or on the bay. I am intrested if anyne has an opinion on what might be better. If you stay on the bay do you still have easy beach access without a long walk? If you stay on the beach is there any way to access the bay for fishing? I have never been to ths area, so just don%26#39;t know what to do. Want to please the men who want to fish and the kids and moms who want the beach.

Staying in Sandbridge Area

Hi, scifity, sorry I haven%26#39;t been fishing in Sandbridge. I know there%26#39;s surf and pier fishing so I looked into it. Here%26#39;s what I found, including info on licenses/or not and the pier for fishing in Sandbridge...just $3/adults, little ones free, opens at 5:30, etc.:

Staying in Sandbridge Area

Sandbridge isn%26#39;t very wide, so the houses on the bay or canals are often still just a few minutes walk from the beach. Most of the houses on the canals or bay have a dock and several even have their own boat ramps that could let your fishermen bring their own boat and fishing gear.

South of Sandbridge road, the canals lead into the bay, which is part of the Currituck Sound that runs all the way to Kitty Hawk. North of Sandbridge, the canals run into a lake, but I%26#39;ve never been there.

Here%26#39;s the ';search by map'; feature offered on Siebert%26#39;s website (Sandbridge Realty%26#39;s website has one just like this too), where you can click on rental properties based on their location:

On the map, just trace the path you%26#39;d walk from a house to the beach. For a ballpark rule of thumb, we figure that it takes about a minute for each 3 houses you%26#39;d be walking past.

We prefer being on a canal because it gives houses a little more rear separation, and the water can be pretty to look at. But, if you%26#39;re not renting a house with it%26#39;s own water access, here%26#39;s some info on public access: sandbridgebeachva.com/files/Fishing_SB.htm

Thank you for the advice.
