Jamestown/Yorktown....wondering

We are scheduled to arrive 7/6 for our first time visit with 15, 10 and 7-year-old. Plan on CW, BG. We will have 4 full days and wondering if it will be worth the $$ to do Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown? I%26#39;ve visited the site, just wondering if there is enough to keep everyone interested?

The big things that would draw my gan would be boarding one of the ships, maybe loading a canon, watching a reenactment of a battle? What else besides that?

Just trying to weigh if it is worth an additional $75 for us to go there on top of all the other ticket costs.

TIA,

Kim

Jamestown/Yorktown....wondering

Hi, kimber --

First off, at the most superficial level, the representation of 17th century life among natives and European arrivals both, is very good. You wander around replica villages and talk with enactors, and bump your heads in the incredibly tight quarters of the replica ships ... it%26#39;s a very physical experience.

At a deeper level, the story of our nation very much depends on what happened in Jamestown in the 1600s. You are going to Williamsburg, presumably, to connect with your heritage as an American, in a way that you can%26#39;t do anywhere else. You are spending plenty of time and money to do this. I can%26#39;t think of a better way to spend $75, under the circumstances, than to begin at the beginning!

Have a great trip!
