I plan to visit Virginia Beach for the second time since April of the previous year and last time I came, staying at an unpleasent hotel just didn%26#39;t seem to top off the cake to a most dredful vaction.
Last year I drove 5 hours to this city for one night to find that it was raining for sun up until sun down and the next day as well. Now, looking at the forecast for June 19th - 23 I see nothing but clouds, rain, storms, and a miserable time at a place meant for fun in the SUN. I have noticed that they%26#39;re are a few times out of the month that weather.com does say that in the past it has actually been sunny, but if I%26#39;m going to be camping oceanfront in a tent that came from Wal*Mart and hasn%26#39;t exactly been ';weather'; tested, I don%26#39;t want an unpleasent surprise when I wake up in the morning to find that it has rained so much that me, my mother, our tent, and everything in it is floating out to sea.
Does it ever stop raining?
I think the daily forecast for most of the summer here in Virginia is for a chance of thunderstorms - that%26#39;s normal. But the beach weather changes quickly - from rain to sun in a short time. Hope you have a great time and don%26#39;t get washed out!
Does it ever stop raining?
Yes, now that the drought of the last...what...5 years...in Va. seems to be dissipating, it may be weather as it used to be. And, actually, as it has often been at the shore. Nice afternoon shower every now and then. Comes with heat and humidity.
I really don%26#39;t know how to respond about compliants of the weather. There is nothing anyone can do about it-it is what it is and it is not this cities fault.
There are plenty of activities to do indoors. I would prepare for rain as it probably will occur at some point, hopefully not all day or enough to ruin plans. I would also look into a ';weather tested'; tent if you are camping. Follow the BoyScout motto and be prepared.
Todd, while we are personally there enough to be interested in Va. Beach Blvd and all the malls and stores, etc. and everything away from the beach, most tourists here will be more interested in the beach part of Virginia Beach. We have always enjoyed it...bot the actual resort areas as well as the rest of the city.
Hi erintucker,
The weather %26#39;forecast%26#39; is generally only correct within about 24-48 hours out. The weather here changes so very much in the blink-of-an-eye. The reason the forecast shows a chance of rain almost each day is because they don%26#39;t know when something will actually pop up or not, but there is always a %26#39;chance%26#39;. If you notice, the percentage of a chance of precipitation is very low, which will be because they know that there is always a CHANCE that a quick shower or storm may pop up- the higher percentages are usually due to an actual active storm system heading our way. Right now during your stay, the forecast is showing very low percentages for the chance of any precipitation, they highest being only 40% chance of %26#39;scattered%26#39; storms, which means that if anything shows up at all, it will likely be short %26#39;popup%26#39; storms, that are here for 15 minutes %26amp; then gone. My bet, based on the typical weather trend here, is that most of your vacation will be clear.
