Traveling without Kids

My husband and I have a rare opportunity again to have one week to ourselves for vacation. Last year we had the same opportunity and we went to the outer banks. We had the best time. Our kids spend the week with our family in VA so we are looking to stay close or travel apprx 2-3 hours away. The outer banks was fantastic and we were going to go there again, but our in laws want us to go with the family in September. Our week alone is in August. Does anyone have any suggestions on vacations spots for us. We are young and active, looking for adventure and serenity, we love the beach and hanging out. HELP!

You mentioned you love beaches- have you considered VA Beach, or maybe the Eastern Shore?

You mentioned you are a young active couple %26amp; like both adventure %26amp; serenity- perhaps splitting a trip between VA Beach %26amp; Williamsburg- in Williamsburg you could experience the historic romance of Colonial Williamsburg %26amp; leisurely tour the historic area, take a romantic carriage ride, dine by candlelight %26amp; colonial music in one of the taverns, etc. But could also experience the fun of the Busch Gardens %26amp; Water Country theme parks. If you stay in the Newport News area you would be nestled mid-way between VA Beach %26amp; Williamsburg, %26amp; can avoid the high tourist prices %26amp; in-town traffic of both of them. Newport News also has some great attractions of it%26#39;s own, if you want to check it out- www.newport-news.org .

Colonial Williamsburg is part of the ';Historic Triangle'; which also consists of Historic Jamestowne Island, Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown Victory Center, and Yorktown Battlefield. These are all connected by the Colonial Parkway, a very scenic drive of about 23 miles. If you are interested in early american history, this is the place to be!! Have a great time, wherever you decide to go.
